Put Down The Damn Torch - Auto Torch Placer
Tired of constantly pulling out and placing torches manually while exploring dark caves or during nighttime adventures? Put Down The Damn Torch automates this routine task!
This client-side mod lets you focus on mining, fighting, or building by automatically placing a torch from your inventory when it gets too dark around you. No more interrupting your flow every few steps to light the way!

- Quick Mode Switching: Cycle through the modes with a key press (Default: M) while the mod is active.
- Convenient HUD: A small indicator on your screen shows if the mod is enabled and which mode is active.
- Inventory Check: The mod only uses torches if you have them in your main inventory or off-hand.
- Configurable via Mod Menu: Easily customize keybindings, light level thresholds for modes, and other settings using Cloth Config (requires Mod Menu).
- Client-Side: The mod is only needed on your client; it doesn't need to be installed on the server! Compatible with Vanilla and other servers without the mod.
⚙️ How to Use:
- Launch the game.
- Press N (changeable in controls settings or via Mod Menu) to toggle auto-torch placement on or off. You'll see a chat message and the HUD will update.
- If the mod is enabled, press M (changeable) to cycle through the "Always," "Night," and "Cave" modes. The HUD will show the current mode.
- Make sure you have torches (only
minecraft:torch:( ) in your inventory.
- Customize the mod's behavior to your liking through the config menu (accessible via Mod Menu if Cloth Config is installed).
- Enjoy the automatic lighting! The mod will place a torch at your feet when the conditions of the selected mode and your settings are met.
